How did we come about?
Heavily inspired by his time volunteering with disability-centric NGOs, LearnIn was conceived by founder Bryan Neo as a platform that seeks to tackle the various difficulties and obstacles in learning, faced by people with disabilities.
Bryan firmly believes that given the right tools and support, people with disabilities would be able to fully realise their potentials. Therefore, Bryan actively works against allowing their disabilities, from hindering their learning journey.
As a platform, LearnIn tackles these difficulties via its specialised tutor-tutee matching program, matching knowledgable and compatible tutors (some of whom also have disabilities) with individuals with disabilities.
Additionally, LearnIn works with community partners to organise workshops focused on equipping individuals with disabilities (and their caregivers), with practical life skills. LearnIn also works towards raising awareness of the challenges persons with disabilities face with the aim of creating a more inclusive society.
Ultimately, LearnIn’s vision is,
“Creating an inclusive society,
by people with disabilities,
for people with disabilities.”
Tutors & Tutee Testimonies
As for me, I'm very privileged to be able to experience how it's like to be a tutor aide. :) It was wonderful and fulfilling sessions as I get to interact and mingle with students who have difficulty learning due to some form of visual impairments...
Personally, it's been an enriching experience. I've had to pay close attention to how I interact and communicate with someone who is visually impaired...
Teacher Winston is different from my previous tutors because he really puts in his effort when teaching me and will make sure I understand the concepts before moving on to teaching me other things...
